Director of Bands
Ms. Huston has been the Director of Bands at FW Springstead High School since 2023. She received her Bachelors in Instrumental Music Education from Florida State University. Current ensembles under the direction of Ms. Huston are Jazz Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Wind Band, and the Marching Eagle Brigade.
In 2024, Ms. Huston earned an Excellent rating with the Concert Band and a Superior rating with the Symphonic Wind Band at district Music Performance Assessment. In addition, her Symphonic Wind Ensemble earned an Excellent rating at State Music Performance Assessment.
Mr. Furterer is the Band Director at Explorer K-8. He earned his Music Education degree at Stetson University. When he is not teaching at EK8, he is working with the Marching Eagle Brigade, teaching lessons, or performing with the Nature Coast Community Band.
Kaylin Wilkins graduated from JW Mitchell where she perused her career in the world of Color Guard. She performed with Drum Corps International and Tampa Independent. Kaylin directs our Color Guard during the fall and Winter Guard in the Winter.
While in High School, Victoria Muniz was part of her band as a musician and a color guard participant. She also served as a drum major and a color guard colonel. Victoria has spent the last two seasons at SHS working alongside Kaylin Wilkins.
Mr. Dasher retired from FW Springstead HS after teaching for 35 years. He now serves as the Visual Coordinator writing marching drill for the competitive marching season.
Michael is a graduate of the University of Central Florida with a degree in percussion performance. He is now perusing his masters in percussion performance and is writing music full time.
Joshua holds a master’s degree in Instrumental Conducting from the University of South Florida and a bachelor’s degree in Music Composition from the University of Central Florida. He currently serves as the Director of Bands at JW Mitchell High School.
